This is such good timing, I’ve been thinking about replacing some of my old clothes with tons of slips so I could layer them over each other and wear them out and about, but I had no idea they were so functional! And here I thought I was the only person under about 50 who still wore slips. It warms my heart to hear them celebrated. The feel of silky fabric under a skirt of dress is just so darn sexy. Plus, they fix problems like clingy jersey dresses and put the kibosh on creeping pencil skirts and wiggle dresses! Slips are amazing. Granted mine could use some snazzing up, but at least I no longer feel like an 80 year old woman for choosing to wear them. Very practical and classy.

I’ve had a sworn enemy-ship with slips since junior high when my mom first started making me wear them “because you’re a young lady now”. Now I might have to re-think them…

Slips, or Petticoats as they are still best known by my ladies here, have been an essential part of a woman’s intimate underclothing during my many years in the fascinating world of Corsetry and Underwear. It has an old tv with some old school video game graphics on it, posters on the wall, bookshelves, etc…. Flash forward to the present, and I’ve upheld that vow. There are no slips intermingled with my underwear, but that’s only because my slip collection has grown so lush and bountiful that it requires its very own drawer. My past self would have frowned upon my present infatuation, but my present self pities the kind of naiveté that would discount such a classic garment. I mean…there is a lot to be said about leather and spikes…I dare you to slip that combo on and not wanna be naughty.

GRACE FARRELL IN ANNIE I CANNOT EVEN HANDLE IT. I wanted to be her so badly when I grew up.. we’re gettin’ there. Slips are THE BEST. HAHA I was just at Amvets today and I bought this vintage Victoria’s Secret slip to use as a shirt. It’s teal, and it FITS and its so so pretty.If you wear a slip under a short dress of the same color, you can get the effect of a tiered skirt on the dress, which is pretty cool.
