About this deal

A treasure trove… If we learn the lessons of this short, sharp, crisp little book, maybe we’ll pull it off again. Nick's depressed, in a very going nowhere but down marriage, wallowing in his failure to get off the couch and make something of himself. I now understand why desperate people find religion, or end up believing in aliens or conspiracy theories.

Nick and Bee are all set to break this rule, Bee hunting out the Nick in her reality, who happens to be a famous author. All the cleverness and silliness lulled me into its strange and beautiful world, and then it took an existential turn that I’ll never forget, and then I found myself deeply invested in the lives and decisions of talking animals.Another bit of fun is the repeated presence of David Bowie references, including an album you have never heard of. You have to stop reading the sentence, read the parenthetical remarks, then go back and read the sentence again because you forgot what was being said.

With gorgeous illustrations by Shawn Harris, here is a book that is truly for all ages, as only the best stories are. The only thing I would change is take out the political jabs as I read to escape that type of attitudes from either side but otherwise I’d say take a chance on this one if a romantic sci-fi sounds fun. Chris and her team of cold-case obsessives suspect that Shaun is looking for the “Boy in the Dress,” one victim in a series of gay men murdered by the same killer. Colin O’Brady’s awe-inspiring, New York Times bestselling memoir recounting his recovery from a tragic accident and his record-setting 932-mile solo crossing of Antarctica is a “jaw-dropping tale of passion and perseverance” (Angela Duckworth, New York Times bestselling author of Grit). A heartbreaking relationship ensues whereThey’ve both got baggage and we learn about this as the book progresses and there are some darker topics that appear later on.

If I'm being honest, I also loved that series, because I have had a crush on the actor Mark Valley since I first saw him on Days of Our Lives decades ago. A work of dazzling ingenuity, powered not only by Eggers’ impressive knack for inhabiting the minds of other species, but also by the physical form of McSweeney’s deluxe, all-ages edition. Every time he takes off we are treated to these delicious descriptions of his speed, and no two ever repeat. I have to confess I nearly didn’t finish Sarah Lotz’s recent novel, Impossible (also marketed as The Impossible Us). This is a clever, creative story that will leave you wondering about it days after you read the last page.Over a matter of weeks, the party would be launched, stand candidates across seventy seats and become the largest single party in the European Parliament. Johannes is a highly engaging narrator whose exuberance and good nature run like a bright thread through the novel’s pages. A friend of mine, a middle school math teacher, likes to say, ‘If you can’t explain it to an 8-year-old, you don’t get it.
