In a nutshell, turning off the heating to a room does not affect the power output of radiators in adjoining rooms.

Wiser tech guy said that during calibration the head should detect the initial resistance of the pin (the fully open) and the hard stop 'closed' position. So just bought my first place finally in the UK, and funny thing, the seller lost the remote from the thermostat. The sound of them wurring around the house when the heating comes on is almost imperceptible and I actually rather like it as it shows the system is up and running.However standard TRVs do not communicate with your boiler and they will not turn the boiler on and off. For example some of the Tado TRV adapters are quite large and thus come with pin extenders to enable the TRV to push the valve properly. It’s compatible with Google Home and Alexa (“Alexa, turn the heat to 21 in the living room”) and can be affixed to 90 per cent of radiators (or you can use its adaptors, which come with the kit), but you do need the Wiser heating system to make it work through the internet. Neither the TRVs, room thermostat or programmer will necessarily help the boiler run more efficiently. This is perfect for our small apartment where we can control the living room and bedroom radiators, and have a hallway thermostat as before.

The only way I get the heating on is to set the radiator TRV's temp above the indicated room temp that the TRV "sees". The beauty of the room-zoned controls is that you can target the temperature settings if each room precisely based on your regular movements through the house but still easily override when you need too. With a smart heating system you move across to a permanently "on" situation but use the stats to vary the temperature across the day such as 21c daytime and 16c overnight or whatever your preferences are.
