I have enjoyed Edible and Medicinal Wild Plants of Britain and Ireland, even as a reader who lives in the Southern Appalachians. This did, however, help me to identify wild garlic in the early summer, which I foraged till I had no more room in my freezer! Alongside a growing want to try and use natural, rather than synthetic, methods to provide medicinal remedies and a general desire from a lot of us to get back to mature this book has come along at a great time. I get the feeling the author threw this together quickly to get it published as soon as possible, it's a major downfall because it really shows. The species mentioned in the book are growing in my surroundings (Cork,Ireland) which makes it practical and simple to use. I would have loved pictures, I know Robin gives you a link for a free downloadable guide but I want to read a book, not read a book and reference elsewhere for info. In only a few weeks this exceptional book has helped increase my knowledge of and awareness of, the wild larder that is always within our grasp.
