About this deal

Cadia was therefore one of the most strategically important planets of the galaxy. On several occasions the forces of Chaos moved against Cadia and raging battles were fought in the depths of space. Such huge battles were rare, but the constant intrusion of Chaos raiding craft into Cadian space was commonplace throughout the period of the Long War. As one of the most strategically important planets in the Imperium, Cadia boasted a large military presence. Battlefleet Cadia provided orbital protection for the planet and could call upon the assistance of neighboring sector fleets such as Battlefleet Agripinaa, Battlefleet Corona and Battlefleet Scarus. [1a] The planet's surface was dotted with numerous orbital defense batteries, its skies were patrolled by flights of Imperial Aircraft, and any incoming civilian craft that failed to transmit the daily access codes were liable to be shot down without question. [2] Perhaps, just as a veteran can lead lesser men to deeds of great heroism, Cadia had inspired those worlds around it to defend every nation and city to the last bullet. Perhaps Cadia's surviving soldiery lent strength through their hunger for retribution. Perhaps those battered by the storm simply fought for survival. Whatever the reason, the defenders of the Cadian Gate resolved to uphold the virtues of its lost lynchpin world come what may. We know that the troops for the Astra Militarum is fairly cheap – after all, there are billions of men and women in the Imperial Guard. Thanks to the tanks, the total Points value of this box comes out to 705 points, which should provide a solid foundation for a Militarum army. Or a great addition if you’re trying to round your 2000 Points list out! Space Marines – Spearhead Force Following the Siege of Terra that ended the Horus Heresy with Horus's death and the interment of the Emperor of Mankind in the Golden Throne, the defeated Traitor Legions and their allied forces among the Imperial Army and the Dark Mechanicum fled from Terra. Some of the exhausted Loyalists rallied and gave chase, but most remained on Terra to consolidate their great victory over the forces of Chaos.

Other Astra Militarum regiments model their recruitment and training practices on Cadian doctrine, or seek to equip their forces in the Cadian style. All are eager to emulate a world so heavily militarised that it was said its people were taught how to field-strip and shoot a lasgun before they could even read.Note: All the Adeptus Astartes assets were stripped from Mos Khazner's defence in an attempt to retake the orbital batteries. Their success allowed the Long Retreat. Despite millennia of study, the Adeptus Mechanicus failed to discover the purpose of the pylons. Servitors sent within invariably ceased to function or suffered circuit overload; all attempts to breach the structures' gleaming surfaces met with failure. Any recovered data was fragmentary at best, and contradictory at worst. Even the identity of the pylons' creators was shrouded in mystery. In the wake of its destruction, the remains of Cadia in the Era Indomitus were resettled by the forces of Chaos. It has since become a Chaos stronghold at the heart of a burgeoning new Renegade empire close to the Eye of Terror terminus of the Great Rift. These miniatures are supplied unpainted and require assembly – we recommend using Citadel Plastic Glue and Citadel Colour paints. The Planetary Defense Force, known as the Cadian Interior Guard, was also counted among one of the best military organizations. This is because one out of every ten Cadians, regardless of their skills, was assigned to the Interior Guard, resulting in some of the best soldiers spending their entire military career on Cadia. [1b]

The Cadian Defence Force box epitomizes the might of the Astra Militarum, the vast military arm of the Imperium in Warhammer 40,000. This box set represents the unyielding strength of the Emperor’s forces, showcasing the disciplined and relentless nature of these soldiers who stand as the first line of defense against the myriad threats facing the Imperium. Although Cadia was ultimately reduced to a burning wasteland by Abaddon's assault, the worlds in the wider Cadian System fought hard to destroy the spearhead the Despoiler had plunged into their midst. The Great Exodus of Cadia had seen swathes of the Imperial defence redeployed to the sister worlds. [11] This box also contains transfer sheets for you to customise your miniatures. You'll find 4x Cadian Infantry Transfer Sheets which contain 597 high-quality waterslide transfers each, as wlll as 1x Astra Militarum Vehicle Transfer Sheet containing a further 475 transfers.

Space Marines – Spearhead Force

Social class on Cadia was dictated by military rank, which in turn lead to the upper echelons of command within the Cadian regiments to be highly classist - importance being placed on being from a military family or one's bloodlines as well as military competence. [9d] [9a] Bury your foes in a relentless tide of claws with the Onslaught Swarm, one of the most terrifying assemblages of Tyranid monstrosities ever stuffed into a box. A massive Norn Emissary joins up with a Winged Hive Tyrant – which can also be built as a ground bound Hive Tyrant or Swarmlord – to lead a tide of 20 leaping, scything Hormagaunts and 10 ravening Genestealers, with a pair of Ripper Swarms to boot. Exalted of the Red Angel Settled before the onset of the Age of Strife by a branch of Humanity that eventually fell to the worship of the Chaos Gods and played a major role in the ultimate corruption of the Space Marine Legions, Cadia was re-settled sometime in the early 32nd Millennium by Loyalist Humans of the Imperium. Because of its closeness to the Eye of Terror, Cadia also maintained the Internal Guard for defense against Chaos cult activities. A less well-known part of the Cadian military establishment, the Internal Guard consisted of Inquisitors of the Ordo Malleus that had been permanently seconded to the Cadian military, and made frequent use of Sanctioned Psykers. [1c] Society Rynnsguard - The Rynnsguard served as the Planetary Defence Force of the planet of Rynn's World, the homeworld of the Crimson Fists Chapter. They suffered horrendous casualties at the time of the invasion of Rynn's World by WAAAGH! Snagrod when much of the Chapter was destroyed.

Those same Traitors who fought on Terra 10,000 standard years ago still fight today in the service of Chaos. They fight against each other to prove their supremacy and against the forces of the Imperium when the Warp Storms calm enough to allow them to emerge into Imperial space. This is very much a sidegrade, but it’s an option. The heavy weapon squad and the command squad are essentially 6+4=10 men and lots of useful components. You don’t have to build them as intended. Instead, you can just mix those bits with your regular infantry bits to make three squads. This has the added coolness of mixing up your poses a little, so you can have guardsmen kneeling and firing their lasguns, and so on. Your Initial Army List The idea of Astra Militarum on a Budget came from the live chat on this blog – thanks, whoever you are! And yes, that live chat is me. It’s not a bot! I get a lot of this… The Astra Militarum got a box true to the phrase “Cadia stands!”, as the Cadian Defence Force brings some serious firepower alongside the heroes of the Imperium. The box contains two squads of foot soldiers, two tanks and a command squad to guide them through the storm of battle. That alone would be worth a letter to Santa, but how much can you save on the Defence Force? This Battleforce is a great foundation for a Leagues of Votann army, as it’s exactly 750 points of great units. If you pair the Defenders of the Ancestors up with a Combat Patrol box, you almost have an army that could take on anything! If you build out from there, you can have a 2000 point of height challenged individuals in no time! Tyranids – Onslaught SwarmThe monstrous kinetic strike wiped out most of Cadia's remaining defenders, destroyed the network of Cadian Pylons and tectonically destabilised the world. As the Warp and its foul denizens claimed the remains of the Fortress World, Lord Castellan Ursarkar E. Creed arranged an evacuation of the planet that saved 3 million of its citizens before the planet finally ripped itself apart -- though not before Creed himself mysteriously disappeared. This monstrous kinetic strike wiped out most of Cadia's defenders, destroyed the network of Cadian Pylons and tectonically destabilised the world. HQ: Leman Russ tank commander (battle cannon, lascannon, multi-melta sponsons, heavy stubber) 245pts Though their home planet was utterly sundered, the resolve of the Cadians has not been broken. Veteran survivors of the last battle for Cadia, along with regiments of their kin scattered throughout the galaxy, now fight even more doggedly against the Imperium's enemies. Perhaps the most unusual and significant feature of Cadia were the mysterious Pylons, structures of unknown origins that predated the planet's colonization by man. Five thousand, eight hundred ten intact Pylons were spread out across the surface of Cadia, with a further two thousand either buried or in various states of disrepair. No two were identical in design, but each one rose to precisely half a kilometer in height and extended a quarter-kilometer into the ground. Each Pylon also featured slim, winding tunnels machined into them, each one no wider than a man's head and exactly two hundred fifty meters long. [1b] [2]
