About this deal

I love Rachel's writing style, for those of you 'new' to the path a brilliantly informative book on everything you need to know to make a start. For those who have been travelling this path for a while a confirmation and a tidy up of the knowledge you already have plus a few extras! All told openly as if by your favourite Aunt :) More like this please! We all know this house and can picture it in our minds. It’s the resident witch house, with the stories and lore to go with it. This is the fantasy, the mythology, what we want the witches house to look like. Hell it’s the one I want to live in one day lol. As witches, we know the importance of embracing the cycles of the year and the changing of the seasons. In kitchen witchery, this is no different. Seasonal recipes are a big part of kitchen witchcraft, as we use the different foods available to us throughout the year to create magic. For example, at Yule, a kitchen witch might create a warm and hearty stew made with root vegetables, such as carrots, potatoes, and turnips, to symbolize the earthy energy of the season. Do your best to eat plants and avoid foods that come from a plant, (I.e. pizza rolls or frozen dinners). Be discerning. I understand it can get expensive to buy fresh vegetables however frozen veggies are still healthy. If you’re new to the healthy eating thing, take baby steps. Small changes over time are easier to maintain and have a longer lasting impact that great big sudden changes. Remember just because you can cook every meal from scratch doesn’t mean you should forgo the magic. Its still beneficial. 5) Visualize your intentions

The Artemisia family is well known for its potent healing abilities, and magically used for divination, dreaming and psychic sight. A grater or microplane is a great tool for zesting lemons and limes for extra flavor, or grating smaller things like ginger or nutmeg. This one isn’t 100% necessary but it’s very convenient.Smoke Cleansing: Burn sage, lavender, or rosemary, or a combination of these purifying herbs. Palo Santo is another option. I’m also a big supporter of preserving foods for later use. I live in an area with 4 seasons. Nothing grows in winter when the ground is frozen and the sun is far away. Freezing strawberries and canning tomatoes guarantees us food for those barren months but I still plan my meals according to what is available at the farm stands. Asparagus in the early spring, strawberries in June, apples and winter squash in the fall. Common Kitchen Herbs for your Kitchen Witchery Although largely unknown in modern England, the kitchen witch was known in England during Tudor times. GARLIC – Garlic is very protective from dark energy, and wards off disease and evil. There’s a reason it’s thought to keep vampires at bay. Due to all the mundane activities that occur in the kitchen, yours probably can't be 100% magical. Create a mini-altar inside your kitchen to create a focal point for the specifically magical aspects of life in the kitchen. This could be on a visible surface or in a dedicated cabinet. However, you don’t have to be rigid with cooking (whereas baking is more of a science that can take practice). You can do whatever you want if your instincts are telling you to try something else. Essential kitchen items Share your magical intention for the food with anyone who is sharing the meal with you. Be prepared to only charge your portion if they are not interested in magical food. We’ve never been the “bow your head and say grace” kind of family. It feels weirdly Christian and I have a really hard time with it. I like the idea but can’t get into the practice. If that works for you, then go for it. Instead, I will silently bless the food as I transfer it to serving dishes or if its a lazy meal and I serve from the stove, I’ll bless the food as I’m dishing out plates. 7) Eat with intentionMark the changing of the seasons with special meals or dishes that honour the cycles of nature. For example, bake bread at the autumn equinox or make a floral-infused dish to celebrate the arrival of spring. Kitchen Divination Meditate, cleanse yourself, listen to music or perform another self care ritual before you begin cooking. Spatulas. If you don’t get a set with different sizes, at least get one basic medium or large spatula for mixing and scraping out every last drop of the food you make.

We like to throw around the term Kitchen Witchery to refer to the amazing meals and dishes that we cook from scratch. I’d like to go more into detail about what it entails. Suffice to say its a little bit more than just knowing how to cook.If you’re wondering whether or not you can be a kitchen witch, there’s no initiation, there’s no gatekeeper, no certification or exam.
