About this deal

Be warned, though, there are a lot of information that the everyday man knows about the moon already, so if you have studied the moon before, this book may be a tad to basic for you. Like fighting against an ocean tide, fighting the energy of the moon in lunar magic is a losing battle.

I don’t think it ruins or takes away from the book too much, though. This might be because, growing up in the 1990s, most of the books I was able to find included similar statements, and I was still able to learn plenty from them.

Lilith Le Fay, one of the two central characters is more of a lightly detailed sketch than a fully fleshed out personality. She is also rather unappealing, having been given a cold predatory nature and seemingly no real emotions or desires of her own beyond surface level. Use the energies of this phase to heal on both spiritual and emotional levels. As the moon is growing in shape, you can focus on self-growth. It’s a time of abundance so use it creatively, allow the right things and people to come to you and attract the important things that you wish to see more of. Carry out health and beauty treatments, focus on personal growth such asincreasing self-esteem and self-love, family and fertility, and work on developing your Powers of Manifestation. Cast these spells during a First Quarter moon:

There are magic cults that belong to specific LGBTQI groups, nowadays, who come together as outsiders or refugees from mainstream religion, seeking enlightenment and empowerment through their own rites and rituals. As the moon moves from the new moon to the full moon, it enters the waxing crescent phase. This phase is characterized by growth and expansion, making it a perfect time for taking action and bringing your plans to life. First Quarter The names of the chapters seemed interesting, but it turned out some of those chapters were just a couple of paragraphs long. I think the concept of applying biodynamics to everyday life is an interesting one, but most of this material is extremely superficial. Some of the things described here are worthy practices (like gratefulness), but, strictly speaking (or even not that strictly), have no connection to the Moon. For instance, the author says that she shakes her hands after meeting an energy vampire as if to shake off their negative energy; this is concluded by: "call it a Moon shake"; why? A history of goddesses from different cultures and their association with the moon can be found in the book as well and this can be very helpful when deciding which one to ask for guidance from during your rituals. But moon magic is actually a highly specialized form of witchcraft. Not all practitioners use it in the same way—or at all. So what is moon magic?I am currently reading Gareth Knight's biography of Dion Fortune, after which, I will be done with my Dion Fortune readings. There are more to read but I'm full up for now. I am not sure who I would recommend these books to, to be honest. They are kind of fun to read. Fortune was a brilliant woman with a fascinating mind but, on the other hand, I think her beliefs were ... well, unbelievable. But then, I do not believe there is anything otherworldly about Tarot cards, crystals, or psychics who supposedly channel spirit guides, either. Clearly, these books would hold more than just entertainment value for those who do.

The serenity of working in harmony with celestial bodies revitalizes the spirit and quiets the mind. There was information on tea-leaf/coffee ground reading! And other divination practices that are affected by the moon! I loved this little surprise! As I said above, I’m not very spiritual, but there are many simple rituals that I’d like to start encompassing in my life, in accordance with the moon. It can’t hurt to put a little more intention behind my thoughts and actions, right? In my research about my birth chart, I’ve learned and would have to agree that one of the biggest influences in my life is a thirst for knowledge and understanding about myself and those around me. I want to know everything- which I know is also a large reason as to why I’m such a reader! So, I’m curious to try some of the suggestions that Ahlquist mentioned in her book- such as journaling about certain things, for instance, like my sleep cycle and noting if a pattern emerges that works with the moon cycle. The month were lunar. Scholars disagree as to whether the start of the month was the new moon or the full moon I wandered around a local shop and out of all the books there, I felt most intrigued by Moon Magic: Your Complete Guide to Harnessing the Mystical Energy of the Moon. I took it home and it sat of the shelves for a few weeks, but it’s such a gorgeous cover and I just couldn’t wait any longer to dive into it. At the same time, I had become more obsessed with astrology, and learning more about my birth chart. I’d been listening to a lot of podcasts (taking a break from audiobooks) about astrology (Fat Feminist Witch, Astrology Bytes, and Fearless Rebelle Radio all covered some astrology topics) and it just felt like perfect timing to read this book as well.Cast a spell that will help you grow your business or your career. This is a good time for long-term or material-gain spells, such as a money-drawing spell or a ritual for finding a new job. Focus on your work and your education. Avoid thinking of your goals as something that is in the future but rather as something that is already starting to happen. Also, charge your Moon Water on the Waxing Crescent Moon.

Repeat the following incantation: “With the power of the full moon, I release all negativity and embrace positivity. So be it.” The Moon exerts a great gravitational ‘pull’ on the Earth – it is this that not only moves our tides but also affects every ‘water bearing’ organism (plants, animals and humans). Explore the relevant sections through the links below. For each phase, devote at least one night per quarter to sitting outside under the full moon. Using an approach of mindfulness, stay in the present moment and focus on the meaning of the current moment in the lunar cycle. Consider the month and season.Violet Mary Firth Evans (better known as Dion Fortune), was a British occultist and author. Her pseudonym was inspired by her family motto "Deo, non fortuna" (Latin for "by God, not fate").
