About this deal

Iโ€™m not okay Pepper!!! ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ˜ญ๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”๐Ÿ’”What are you doing to my poor heart. This book is just that, a heartbreaking mess of innocence lost, a world of debaultory and pain and a fractured mind that cannot be savedโ€ฆ or will it? Her books have garnered foreign interest and are currently being translated into numerous languages, including already released titles in Italian, French, Hebrew, German, and Turkish. Gemma finally has the one thing she has ever wanted. Freedom. But it came at the expense of the man she had grown to love. And now nothing would ever be the same. would the beast return and destroy her again? Or will she finally be able to escape, and continue living her hollow existence?

The characters were so complex, it was almost inevitable to fall for them but man...they made me cry so much. I am so in love with every word author Winters write...its so poetical and touches your heart. The confessions of their heart, their refusal, consciousness...it feels so real...more like a movie playing behind my eyes. Fable has spent the last few years abandoned on an island full of thieves and criminals after her father left her there (because she needed to "learn how to survive" apparently) and now that she can finally pay her passage off of the island, she is on a mission to find her father and claim her place by his side. She boards onto The Marigold where she meets a small crew of five young and secretive men and women. After years of barely surviving on her own, she slowly learns to trust again and even to make friends. Plot twist, of course, things are not that easy! Fable needs to prove her worth and find her place in this world of crime and piracy. Heather, Pal and friends set off to rescue children who have been taken to this threatening underworld. No child will be forgotten on their watch. Heather and friends realise they have been specially chosen for this quest. They must use the talents they've been given in the battle to save Fablehouse and all the children who have found shelter there. Listen. Listen. I'm a Pepper Winters whore, okay? I will read whatever she writes, even if it's a damn Twilight fanfiction (please don't). So I don't know what's up with me and this series. I truly don't.Nothing comes free, Fable. We both know that surviving means sometimes doing things that haunt you.โ€ Fablehouse is a children's home like no other. Heather and her friends who live here have magic at their fingertips. The children have a powerful friend in Pal, an Arthurian knight who teaches them to harness the powers they find within themselves. But not everyone the children meet is on their side. The Story: There was a huge cliffhanger at the end of book 1, right at a critical point in the story. Now Gemma has to decide if she wants to stay with Kassen or return to her life as a millionaire social media sensation with a mother and brother who are most likely very worried about her. Fablehouse is a very thought provoking and exciting adventure, told with experience that E L Norry herself had whilst growing up in care, never fitting into one world or another. Heather is furiously angry at how life has treated her so far and also cannot recognise her own worth. Fable is definitely a slow burn. It's quite character-driven, but I did enjoy my time learning about Fable, West and the other characters on the Marigold. There's a nice found-family element to it that I liked quite a bit as well.

Pepper Winters has a way to make you live on your own skin what she writes, that still amaze me, and I canโ€™t help but crave her books because for a little time she make me forget everything, while her stories remain etched on your mind. E.L. has a wonderful touch with atmosphere, painting the hazy, sunny days above ground and the claustrophobic, terrifying land below with equal skill. The growth of the children was wonderful to watch. I love that, although this is the first of a series, it's not a cliffhanger; there's a couple of obvious hooks for the next one, and I probably missed some less obvious ones, but a reader could stop at this one and not feel that they were missing too much. The world of Fable is a ruthless one, as divided by privilege as it is by your ability to cut a throat. Surviving has its own strategies, and you either figure them out and cut yourself a place on the seas, or youโ€™re carrion. This is a lesson every character we meet has had to learn one way or anotherโ€”that there is a certain amount of darkness it takes to live the life of a trader in the Narrows. And Fay, our main character, was forced to confront this at fourteen when her father, Saint, abandoned her on an island of cutthroat dredgers. And as she attempts to reclaim her own place on the waters four years later, she learns the truth of this life of bloody business firsthand. Welcome to a world made dangerous by the sea and by those who wish to profit from it. Where a young girl must find her place and her family while trying to survive in a world built for men." The world-building is simple so we can focus on the characters and their adventure, but we can still feel the pirate vibe and we definitely need more good pirate fantasy books! There are some light magical elements to this that I hope are built out a bit more in the second book. Fable's ability at reading gems is unique and I want to know more. I liked lots of moments, but the book dragged a bit for me. It was just too long with not much happening. It was always the same and nothing really went forward. There were some things but ... grr... I wanted a bit more.
