About this deal

That all-female team includes Chris Bush – who adapted the words – with music by Miranda Cooper – who has written for Girls Aloud and the Sugababes – and direction from Olivier-nominated Amy Hodge, who has worked at the National Theatre, the Young Vic and the Royal Exchange. Definitely. You can’t wing it because they are real people, and you don’t want to either because you want to respect these women what they did and do them justice so we did a lot of research. But what was really lovely and helpful, the young cast, the girls that play Jade, started a week before us and had a week of learning, and made big posters on each of the characters, made a timeline, pictures and everything. When the adult cast started, they gave us a presentation on everyone and it was really amazing to learn from their perspective on top of our own research. and but then to have that bonding experience with everyone and talk about these women collectively. UK Tour Dates Announced For FANTASTICALLY GREAT WOMEN WHO

During shows for little ones, a Buggy Park will be set up somewhere handy. We just ask you to ensure any valuables are taken with you into the show. The Mary song is another highlight; it’s the musical’s equivalent of Six‘s ‘House of Holbein’: fun, fierce and fabulous – and feminist AF. I especially enjoyed the inclusion of Manchester’s own Emmeline Pankhurst – who Kate Pankhurst discovered she is related to whilst writing the book. Kirstie Skivington spoke with a broad Mancunian accent for the role, which was a nice touch.Obviously the book gives a good starter to go “oh that’s so and so and they did that” and you can then look into them further and it’s a good taster of everyone. It’s like a history lesson but not a boring history where you don’t want to pay attention. It’s bright and colourful and it does embrace you. Fantastically Great Women Who Changed The World will be on tour in theatres in Southampton, Norwich, Liverpool, Aylesbury and Chichester from 6 th November 2021 to 16 th January 2022.

Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World Review: Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World

Including comic strips, family trees, maps and more, Fantastically Great Women Scientists and Their Stories is a celebration of women who made some of the world's most important scientific breakthroughs. The incredible cast has been announced for the UK tour of award-winning musical Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World. This empowering pop musical, from one of the producers of the worldwide sensation SIX, is based on the popular book by Suffragette relative Kate Pankhurst. Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World has delighted and inspired audiences across the UK, snowballing to become a hit favourite with a nation-wide following. Head out of the main entrance towards The Foundry Pub, walk past the pub with it on your left and straight up South Street until you come to The Cross (stone monument) which indicates an intersection of four streets. Continue straight ahead up North Street. At the top of North Street is a ring road, take the pedestrian underpass to North Gate Car Park and continue through the car park to reach the Theatre on the far side. BusWe have two fully accessible toilets in the Festival Theatre Foyer (one on each side) and another in the Festival Theatre (auditorium left, adjacent with row L), plus one on each level of the Minerva Theatre. A high voltage show with great charisma… a zippy guide to the great women of history that sets toes tapping and young minds alight – The Guardian Pankhurst does a lot of work in schools, sharing her books and having conversations with young children (her books are aimed at ages 5+). “The stories you know about when you’re young plant a few seeds and show you what was and wasn’t possible in the past. It’s one part of the jigsaw that gives you positive messages about what women can do and how people change things.” Jade represents everyone that is living now that’s watching now and can speak to them by saying “Follow Your Dreams. If you want to achieve something then go for it”. It’s not like Six where they have like a competition – with this there’s no competitiveness. We also have two sets of ladies and gents in the Festival Theatre and another two sets in the Minerva (offering a total of 63 cubicles, four of which are ambulant, and 27 urinals), so there's no shortage of places to spend a penny.

At BSL interpreted performances a British Sign Language interpreter stands on or at the side of the stage and interprets the spoken word and sound effects. Fantastically Great Women is, essentially, to Six what Pretty Little Liars was to Desperate Housewives: a weaker, lighter take on similar themes for a younger audience. I would have loved the show if I was a kid. The children in the audience seemed to be having a great time. Don’t get me wrong, I enjoyed myself, and I might have even felt a little emotional at the end (when Jade was comforted by Rosa Parks and Anne Frank), but I recognise that the musical’s target audience is families. Sacagawea, Frida Kahlo, Mary Seacole and Rosa Parks didn't set out to be thought of as 'great' but, instead, followed their passions and did what they thought was right to make the world a better place. Books like that and conversations like that didn’t exist when I was at school. I didn’t learn anything about what women did at school,” says Pankhurst. “Conversations I have with children are more direct and informed now.” I’ve learnt a lot just over the last four weeks of rehearsals so hopefully that translates on stage. I love how Chris (Bush) who has adapted the book into the play has made the stories of women who wouldn’t have crossed in real time combined them. So you have Amelia Earhart and Sacagawea, who would never have met in real time doing a scene together and they know each other and are friends in this after life. And then Emmeline Pankhurst pops in and speaks to them as well! And it’s cool how their relationships are built within the story. It’s like a celebration and helping Jade.Based on the award-winning children’s picture book by Kate Pankhurtst, Fantastically Great Women Who Changed the World is a brand-new, pop musical from the producers of Six.
