About this deal

Here’s what I do understand. Without going into spoiler territory, let’s just say that Just Another Missing Person wraps up so nicely, so conveniently, that it might as well have been a half-hour sitcom. As I got towards the end, well, at least something has to not work out for someone. Yet, it is all so perfect that it is saccharine. I wish I could say more, but spoilers and all. Plus, some plot lines and characters ended up never getting a real payoff. Blek. But what sets Gillian McAllister's books apart is her unique descriptions, the banter between characters, and the emphasis she places on the importance of family, especially motherhood, in each of her stories. Because her family’s safety depends on one thing: Julia must not find out what happened to Olivia and must frame somebody else for her murder . . .

McAllister piles twist on startling twist, but always in the service of carefully drawn characters with real human problems. A first class thriller Mail on Sunday It's perfection, every word, every moment. A masterpiece . . . I had my mind blown apart. After I finished it I sat with my mouth hanging open in awe. One of the best books I've ever read Lisa Jewell Pros: simple mystery that was elevated by strong writing and intricate plotting, solid pace, loved the little reveals throughout, something about her storytelling always catches me unawares when the twists are revealed, interesting moral dilemma that could spark some juicy book club discussions Because her family's safety depends on one thing: Julia must NOT find out what happened to Olivia - and must frame somebody else for her murder . . .

I have read 3 other Gillian McAllister's books. I have loved every other book, so naturally I dropped the other book I was reading and started Just Another Missing Person. This book did not disappoint while begging the question "how far would you go for someone you loved?" It was a slow burn at first but then continued to gain momentum while you drop your jaw at every corner you turn.

McAllister’s novel isn’t “just another missing person” story but a twisty exploration of professional and familial responsibility, the anonymity of the internet, and the slippery slope to criminality. I listened to the audiobook and although the book's full-cast narration was superb, perhaps reading the eb00k was the way to go with this title. This clever and endlessly surprising thriller is laced with a clever look at family and motherhood, and cements Gillian McAllister as a major talent in the world of suspense and a master of creating ethical dilemmas that show just how murky the distinction between right and wrong can be. Another masterpiece from the queen of the emotional thriller. This book has one of the best twists I've ever come across. It's a super-smart detective story, a gripping missing-person thriller and a powerful mother-daughter drama, all rolled into one beautiful novel." - Beth O'Leary

Just Another Missing Person By Gillian Mcallister- Review DisclaimerAs I delved deeper into the plot, I found myself entangled in a web of secrets, lies, and revelations. The mysteries were like a chain of dominoes, each one falling into place and leading to even more thrilling discoveries. Just when I thought I had it all figured out, McAllister threw another curveball my way, leaving me reeling with surprise and admiration for her storytelling prowess. That. Twist. You will gasp out loud and question everything you've read so far... with Just Another Missing Person, Gillian McAllister has secured her crown as the queen of the mind-bending plot twist. HOLLY SEDDON The chapters are told from 3 POV’s: Julia, Emma and Lewis. I won’t say who they are because that would be a spoiler. As the tension builds, the three paths braid together, and it all starts to make sense. She has no idea how personal this is going to get. Because the criminal at the heart of the disappearance is holding all the cards. He has an important secret. Julia’s most important secret. And everything depends on this secret being kept. Julia cannot find out what happened to Olivia – and she must frame someone else for her murder, or her secret will come out. Here I go again. This is a disclaimer that I seem to be the lone wolf in my disdain for Gillian McAllister’s latest, Just Another Missing Person. So, go into this knowing that there are many who LOVED this book. #1 and #2 Just Another Missing Person There Are Multiple Identities, And Then There Is Utter Confusion Aaaand… #2- There Are Twists, And Then There Are Migraines.

Just Another Missing Person by Gillian McAllister | Waterstones

The plot is riddled with mysteries like Easter eggs that you have to uncover one by one, all interconnected. Just when you think you've solved the main mystery, the author throws another puzzle piece your way, leaving you screaming in surprise as you start theorizing all over again. He tells her that her family's safety depends on one thing: Julia must NOT find out what happened to Olivia - and must frame somebody else for her murder . . . A thriller with depth! These are fully developed characters with the exception of our villain, and although all of the story lines didn’t come together in the end, I enjoyed this too much to care! I love an author who experiments and can surprise me, most of the time. I really liked the time-jump format of Wrong Place Wrong Time, so I was very excited to try J ust Another Missing Person.Because the criminal at the heart of the disappearance has something she never expected. His weapon isn’t a gun or a knife: it’s a secret. Her worst one. And her family’s safety depends on one thing: Julia must NOT find out what happened to Olivia – and must frame somebody else for her murder. As the synopsis indicates, there’s someone who doesn’t want Olivia found, and the reason was fascinating. I really enjoyed the twist in this one, which was inventive and also made complete sense.
