About this deal

plastic penguin I wasn't even aware they made DACs, probably because I though of them as CD players. I bet they are excellent but the cheapest USB one is around €1900. For that sort of money I suddenly don't have that big of a problem with my current dacs And for quite a bit less money I would just go with an Ares II or something like that. DAC & Amps that have volume controls make its operation incredibly simple; turn up the volume on your smartphone or your source devices and then change the volume on DAC & Amps to the desired level. I also own a Topping D10 MkI and I plugged it in a couple of days ago. And here is what I get with both:

HPs : V-Moda M80, Beyerdynamic DT880 Pro, Beyerdynamic Custom One Pro, Beyerdynamic DT990 Pro, Beyerdynamic DT770 Pro, Sony MDR XD300, Kef Space One, Focal Listen, Thieaudio Phantom, Hifiman Deva(BT). There's a fella in a thread on here bemoaning a minimum requirement of 200W to drive a pair of LS50s which is nonsense. If you operate the volume without knowing this, it will cause serious troubles such as destroying the speaker. I immediately reported this issue to Topping. I hope it will be improved as soon as possible. You can already listen to 24 bit music for decades. You don't need true 24 bit resolution for that. You can't hear -120 dB signals in music anyway (if it could be recorded in real life situations anyway).

Anyway, my point is I was looking for the opinion of someone like you Russ. Thank you. What I was especially pleased to see is you use Dirac live and that's exactly what I plan to run in a 2.2 system based on a miniDSP flex prepro/dac/preamp. It being balanced with TRS the topping PA5 looked like the perfect fit. it will have more than enough headroom for my space. Until now, I mainly used E30 and D10s D10 Balanced for DAC, but I bought the newly released E50 because it can also play MQA. |Headphones: Sennheiser HD660S2 | HIFIMAN Sundara | AirPods Pro 2 | Audio Technica ATH-M50X | AKG K371 | Sennheiser HD380 Pro Though I understand how many people would be put off by its skeletal need for an enclosure, some more so due to its 'low' price. E50 uses the latest high-performance DAC chip ES9068AS. Our excellence in design and engineering provides realistic and transparent sound quality. The PA5 is a dinky Class D power amp claiming to deliver 65W RMS per channel into 8 ohms for less than 1% distortion, or 85W into 8 ohms with distortion rising to 10%. It measures 150x130x40mm and has a chunky outboard power supply. There are two sets of balanced inputs using TRS connectors and a single set of loudspeaker outputs for spade terminals or 4mm plugs. The front panel has a power on/off switch and a selector for the two balanced inputs. As the name implies, anything branded as studio headphones is designed especially for a studio setting with a particular focus on accuracy and transparency for monitoring and mixing. Offering a world class service to our customers, we are a highly focused team who can be trusted to support you

Whilst I wouldn't disagree regarding tilting the target response to achieve a preferred frequency balance/warmth/detail, there's a bit more to the character of an amp especially where valves are concerned. Hi, I recently upgraded my system to a pair of Q Acoustics 3050i and a Rega IO as per great suggestion on this forum. Very happy with them but since then I had the suspicion that my IFI Zen is actually a weak link on the whole thing. The E50 supports selectable USB+Coaxial+Optical input modes and RCA+TRS output options. USB input supports formats like DSD512 & PCM768kHz of high-resolution audio. On the E50, the optical and coaxial input not only supports 24bit 192kHz PCM but also supports DoP DSD64 with MQA rendering. E50 offers fully balanced TRS output and single-ended RCA output. You can choose “TRS Only”, “RCA Only” or “TRS+RCA” output to meet different usages in the multiple systems. Was rummaging the house for a 5V charger just to try. All the 5V have smaller plugs but I found a Linear Power Supply with the right plug... but it's 12v Had no idea I had one of those but apparently that's what my router uses.

Well, depending on the DSP system you are using, I guess there is always the option of capturing the IR of the valve amp in question and processing that to use convolution in the DSP to see what happens The feature set in the iFi Zen Stream or Node 2i sans DAC is a pretty good start. Minimum requirements though: Have you thought about a raspberry pi running volumio or moode. I use volumio and have mine connected to a topping dac by usb and then into my amplifier. Sounds amazing for little money. As with more recent Topping products, it uses TRS output for balanced output instead of XLR which takes up a lot more space. E50 uses a DC5V power supply, which can be easily accessed almost everywhere. You can power it up by USB port of PC, mobile phone charger or even a power bank.
