The distillery stands alone, perched high on the rock of Craigellachie ( from which it takes its name) overlooking the confluences of the Rivers Fiddich and Spey. Just so you know, this is my wife’s favourite whisky of all time, so much so that the last time I had a bottle in I had to hide it in the tube of a Craigellachie 13 to stop her dramming a little too often on it! As often happens on first opening, it was OK, and I opened a bottle of 30 quid Hinch irish that seemed better, but the next day I went back and was blown away.
